MARC Goes All Out for a Literate Georgia
Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club spearheaded an exciting and inspiring event focused on the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, Rotary Clubs of Georgia,
Rotary International and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Foundation.
Dolly Parton was the featured presenter on the importance of childhood literacy. She also sang her own song Nine to Five from the movie of the same name. Dolly was joined by a Rotary International board member, John Germ, who announced that they would be partnering with Dolly to eradicate
illiteracy throughout the USA, Canada and United Kingdom.
Closer to our Georgia interests, the three Georgia Rotary District Governors announced that there is now a similar joint venture between the Ferst Foundationfor Childhood Literacy and all Rotary Clubs located in Georgia. District Governors Ted Propes, Kenan Kern and Gary Moore pledged a consolidated
campaign to invest in Georgia’s future by introducing babies and children under five years of age to books and the magic of reading. |
